The first wallpaper, alike last year, is pulled from Zelda. I began by choosing NES colours found in the 1986 title screen. I then went on to create a repeat pattern using the Triforce, an iconic shape from the game. The print began small. Using guides I created the triangular shape making sure everything lined up.
Creating the repeat pattern was relatively easy. I then went on to experiment with colour. The colour themes I used were the waterfall, the vine border, the sword and title colours. The waterfall colours and the title text were my favourite. the others were perhaps too bold and with such a small print could become quite migraine inducing.
I went on to mock up the favourites to see how they would work in context. I still preferred the blue, but felt like the print was just too small. It wasn't pleasant to look at.
I played with the sizes until I found a size that worked well when repeated. Below is what the full wall mocked up. The smaller render is ver disorientating. I continued to mock up the 'entire wall space' until the pattern was more suitable. The largest print worked the best, and so that went on to become my final piece. I fixed the small mistakes, making sure the repeat was smooth and seamless.
