Extended Practice: Student Elections: New Societies Icon

I wanted to create a master vector: a final file that we would refer to when needing the logo. I went back into the old one I created and made sure all measurements and guidelines were accurate.

Additionally, we had to add the Societies Officer planet, which meant a new orbit.

There was space in the left side. The logo was already incredibly balanced; I needed a way to add a planet that subtlety showed 'society' aspects. It took so many different versions but eventually a shape was found that sat well alongside its other planet friends.

It took shifting of other planets and their orbits to keep the balance overall. Personally, I got attached to the version without the Societies planet, but that's life.

After accepting the new shape I asked Beth for her feedback. She mentioned it was far too similar to the Communications planet (Orange) so look for options to differ them slightly. Her suggestion was to add a cut-out, similar to Events (Dark Green).

Colour was added and I then began to cut out all planets (or planets and it's moon, non of this is scientifically accurate shh) but they began to remind me of moons and didn't fit well with the other shapes. Other options were tested, one cut-out, two, two within the same planet. Eventually, one cutout in the main planet worked, it was simple and the most effective.
